Drug-test safe
50mg CBD Transdermal Patch
Transdermal isolate patch that bypasses first-pass liver metabolism for steady, consistent CBD levels over 24 hours. Zero THC — the safest option for drug-tested athletes and employees. No pills to swallow, no taste, no food timing required.
Best for
- ✓ People who need consistent 24-hour CBD coverage without dosing peaks
- ✓ Drug-tested athletes (WADA) and employees (DOT, workplace panels)
- ✓ People who can't or won't swallow tinctures or capsules
- ✓ Joint and muscle inflammation requiring sustained systemic levels
- ✓ Those who want to avoid oral CBD's drug interaction risk
Drug interactions: lowest risk in our range
This patch uses CBD isolate only — no THC, no other cannabinoids. Transdermal delivery produces lower peak plasma CBD levels than oral dosing, reducing CYP450 enzyme inhibition risk compared to the oil. The patch is the most conservative option in the Reclaim Labs range for people on prescription medications. That said, if you take narrow-therapeutic-index drugs (warfarin, etc.), consult your prescriber before starting.

Plain English
Oral CBD creates concentration spikes and troughs throughout the day as each dose is absorbed and metabolized. A 24-hour transdermal patch delivers CBD steadily, maintaining more consistent plasma levels — which may be preferable for chronic inflammation management where sustained coverage matters more than peak levels.
Transdermal delivery bypasses first-pass metabolism
When CBD is taken orally, it undergoes extensive first-pass hepatic metabolism before reaching systemic circulation. The liver converts a significant fraction of oral CBD to metabolites before it reaches the bloodstream — contributing to CBD's famously variable oral bioavailability (6–19% in some estimates). Transdermal delivery bypasses the GI tract and first-pass effect entirely, delivering CBD directly into the venous circulation via skin capillaries. The result is lower but more consistent plasma levels with less inter-dose variability.
Steady-state vs. oral peaks and troughs
Oral dosing produces a pharmacokinetic profile characterized by a peak concentration (Cmax) 1–4 hours post-dose, followed by declining levels until the next dose. For conditions requiring continuous anti-inflammatory coverage — chronic joint pain, autoimmune flare management — this boom-bust profile may be suboptimal. A slow-release transdermal patch approaches steady-state plasma concentration, maintaining therapeutic levels through the night including the early morning hours when inflammatory pain is often worst.
Isolate vs. broad spectrum: the tradeoff
This patch uses CBD isolate — pure CBD with no other cannabinoids. The tradeoff compared to our broad spectrum oil is the absence of the entourage effect (the hypothesized synergy between CBD and minor cannabinoids, terpenes, and CBG). Russo (2011) proposed that broad spectrum preparations may be more effective than isolate for some applications. The benefit of isolate is absolute drug-test safety and maximum purity. For drug-tested individuals, isolate is the correct choice even if broad spectrum may theoretically offer more complete pharmacology.
Preclinical support for transdermal CBD
Hammell et al. (2016) demonstrated in a rat arthritis model that transdermal CBD gel significantly reduced pain behaviors and inflammation compared to vehicle control. Critically, transdermal application produced local tissue concentrations without the systemic fluctuations of oral dosing. While preclinical rodent data cannot be directly extrapolated to humans, this study confirmed the pharmacokinetic rationale for transdermal CBD delivery in inflammatory joint conditions.
Honest limits
We don't have large human RCTs specifically comparing transdermal CBD patches to oral CBD for chronic pain. The pharmacokinetic advantages described above are real and mechanistically sound, but we cannot tell you "the patch works better than the oil" for chronic inflammation — that comparison hasn't been directly tested in a controlled trial. The patch is a delivery format choice, not a proven superior formulation.
How the patch works
The delivery mechanism and how it differs from oral CBD pharmacokinetics.
Apply once, covered for 24 hours
The patch matrix contains 50mg CBD in a slow-release polymer. CBD permeates through the skin barrier at a controlled rate, maintaining relatively consistent plasma levels throughout the day and night. No dosing reminders. No food timing. No taste.
Bypasses the liver entirely
CBD absorbed through skin enters capillaries and goes directly into venous circulation — bypassing the portal system and first-pass hepatic metabolism. This means more predictable plasma levels, lower peak concentrations than an equivalent oral dose, and reduced interaction with liver CYP450 enzymes that clear most prescription medications.
Place anywhere, works systemically
Unlike the roll-on (which targets local tissue), the patch delivers CBD systemically through your circulation. You don't need to place it near the pain location. Place it where skin is thin and circulation is good — inner wrist, inner arm, shoulder. The CBD reaches every tissue via the bloodstream.

Will this patch cause a positive drug test?
This patch uses CBD isolate — pure CBD with zero THC, zero other cannabinoids. It is the safest product in our range for drug-tested individuals. CBD itself is not tested for on standard WADA, DOT, or workplace drug panels. The risk of a positive drug test from this patch is essentially zero — no THC is present in any form.
How long does one patch last?
Each patch is designed for 24-hour delivery. Apply one patch in the morning and replace every 24 hours. The slow, controlled release mechanism maintains more consistent CBD plasma levels throughout the day compared to oral dosing, which produces peaks and troughs as each dose is absorbed and metabolized.
Where should I apply the patch?
Apply to a clean, dry, hair-free area with good blood circulation and thin skin — inner wrist, inner upper arm, shoulder, or upper back. Avoid bony prominences. Rotate application sites daily to prevent skin irritation. You don't need to place the patch near the area of pain — transdermal delivery works systemically through your circulation.
Can I shower with the patch on?
Yes — the patch is water-resistant for normal showering. Avoid extended soaking (baths, hot tubs) which may loosen the adhesive. Pat dry gently rather than rubbing the patch area after showering.
Why use the patch instead of the oil?
The patch delivers CBD transdermally, bypassing first-pass liver metabolism. This avoids the concentration spikes and troughs of oral dosing. For people who need consistent all-day CBD levels, people who can't swallow tinctures, or people who need the absolute lowest THC risk, the patch is the right choice. The oil provides higher doses and potentially more complete pharmacology (broad spectrum). The two are complementary, not competing.
